Level of Lucidity (1-10): 0 | Dream Signs: dead cat, puppet, scary girl, theme park, | Mood:
One where I go to a theme park and get on a ride that's like a water ride, with scenes from Silence of the Lambs, but it's not scary- I love that movie. However, as friends had said before we got on, the ride was boring and lame, the wax mannequins poorly molded and painted, bad likenesses of the characters I adored, and crackly audio recordings of dialog from the movie. Having watched it so many times I recreated these sounds from memory. When my sister and I get out of the boat, complaining, we step into a tunnel with no attendants or anything. We decide to walk along the tunnel- maybe find an attendant or a way out. There's a train track in the middle, for some reason, but there's no train. We meet a girl- in retrospect her nightgownish dress was soiled and her white-blonde hair tangled and dirty. She had a tabby cat on her arm. This part of the dream was in black, white and dark blue for some reason. The cat kept saying, 'I love you!' in a shrill feline voice. At this point in the dream I think it is really the cat that is speaking, and I repeat the words back at it. We said 'I love you!' back and forth, increasing in volume until I finally became sort of aggressive and screamed at it. It hunkered down, frightened. We had been walking this whole time, and presently we began to notice a repulsive smell. As we exited the cave and came into the light it dawned on me- the cat was dead, and the girl was controlling its carcass like a puppet. The rotting smell is coming from it, it's covered in bloody scratches, its eyes are blank and glassy, and its fur is falling out. I'm not scared, just disgusted and angry. I start to go off on this girl, and all the while she's rubbing the cat on my arm and acting as though I hadn't realized it was dead, saying, 'But I love you!'. Finally, grossed out, I yell, 'Get that thing the f--ck away from me! It's disgusting! YOU'RE disgusting!'. She gets the memo and scowls. She runs off into the darkness. Apparently my sister and I were on a school trip- this may have been brought on by a school trip to a theme park a few weeks before- so we just found our bus and left like nothing had happened.
